Situation:

After years of declining tourist visits and sales, Wildwood, New Jersey wanted to re-brand their boardwalk and piers as an attractive destination for nearby travelers in the tri-state area during 4th of July weekend.

Tactic:

To market Wildwood, New Jersey as a preferred tourist attraction during the largest weekend in the summer for tourism/entertainment sales, Blueprint Global Group set out to align the Jersey Shore destination with a celebrity figure that would attract nearby tourists, families, and garner significant media attention to contend with events marketed in other NJ destinations, Philadelphia, New York, and Washington D.C. Blueprint Global Group secured mega star Tim McGraw for the Celebrate America Weekend, during the July 4th, 2016 weekend festivities.

Result:

The Tim McGraw concert attracted over 200,000 visitors to Wildwood’s boardwalk during the July 4th weekend. There was a 37% increase in hotel lodging and sales compared to data from the 2015 sales report. The event also earned over 187,000 in unpaid media through live coverage, print, and digital press.
